Criminal Defense Lawyers in Fredericksburg, Virginia Handle Your Case Aided by Decades of Experience

Powerful representation and strategic solutions to your felony and misdemeanor charges

Being charged with a crime is a serious matter, one that can lead to devastating consequences. Accusations of criminal conduct interrupt your life and demand attention. If not properly addressed, criminal charges can lead to conviction, incarceration, fines and continuing burdens that affect your life for years after release. The best criminal defense cannot guarantee charges being dropped or an acquittal. But you owe it to yourself, your future, and your family and other loved ones to present a strong, spirited defense supported by knowledgeable and talented attorneys.

At Woodbridge, Coleman & Stevens, P.C. Attorneys at Law, our goal is to help those charged with crimes move on with their lives as quickly as possible. We do this by providing vigorous, intelligent support for clients in the following areas:

  • Violent crimes. Crimes of violence range from misdemeanors to serious felonies and include assault and battery, weapons charges, manslaughter, homicide and home invasion. There may be significant differences between a simple assault chargeable as a Class 1 misdemeanor in Virginia and a murder charge based on a willful, deliberate and premeditated killing, which qualifies as a Class 1 felony, but all violent crimes are serious matters requiring immediate attention.
  • Drug charges. The illegal possession, distribution or trafficking of controlled substances, including prescription drugs, methamphetamines, cocaine and heroin, can lead to imprisonment and other significant penalties. For example, unlawful possession of marijuana is a misdemeanor that can be punished by up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine for a first offense. A second offense is a Class 1 misdemeanor with more serious jail time and fines. Even drug charges that seem minor can result in life-altering consequences.
  • Weapons charges. The law punishes those who possess, conceal, carry and transport weapons in various circumstances or use weapons while committing felonies. Among other things, criminal consequences can result based upon failure to have a permit, felons possessing or transporting a weapon, and other weapons charges.
  • Property crimes. The most prevalent form of criminal conduct in Virginia is crimes against property. Property crimes include robbery, burglary, theft, home invasion, grand larceny and trespassing.

At Woodbridge, Coleman & Stevens, P.C. Attorneys at Law we vigorously defend clients against criminal charges of all types, including violent crimes, drug charges, weapons charges and property crimes.
